Full Time
Senior Manager/Supervisor

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Beyond Petrochemicals: People Over Pollution is seeking a Data and Research Manager to play a key role in building a comprehensive program to stop the build out of the petrochemical industry, reduce demand for plastics, and support the movement of advocates fighting petrochemicals.

Beyond Petrochemicals will transform the US industrial sector, ensuring more local victories in the transition to a clean economy, supporting laws that protect communities from harm, and reducing the greenhouse gas emissions that are fueling the climate crisis.

The Data and Research Manager will work closely with leaders across the campaign to analyze and evaluate data and research from a variety of sources. They will identify risks and opportunities based on their analysis and help inform the development of campaign tactics and effective communications. They will help lead and build a data and research team.

The Data and Research Manager will contribute to both the communications and campaign teams by developing internal systems to track data, manage metrics on an internal dashboard, catalogue insights from partner research, contribute to research projects, and help develop data informed narratives that contribute to effective storytelling. They will bring a practical understanding of the use of data, research, and analytics in the climate space and be able to recognize new indicators in the research and see opportunities for new and effective ideas in campaign strategies.

The ideal candidate is an experienced professional with the ability to synthesize and evaluate research and data and understands how this information can shape persuasive stories to drive change. They will be able to quickly gain mastery over a wide range of technical subjects, possess a keen eye for finding information that supports campaign goals, and can track data metrics over a wide range of platforms.

This is a unique opportunity to make a significant contribution in the climate change fight and to stop the build out of the petrochemical industry.

ABOUT BEYOND PETROCHEMICALS
Beyond Petrochemicals is a fiscally sponsored project of the Resources Legacy Fund (RLF), launched in September 2022 by Bloomberg Philanthropies after seeing unprecedented growth in the petrochemical industry, which contributes to climate change and its detrimental impact on the health of communities.

Drawing on the success of Bloomberg’s Beyond Coal and Beyond Carbon campaigns, Beyond Petrochemicalsis turbocharging existing efforts led by frontline communities to block the expansion of more than 120 proposed petrochemical projects concentrated in three target geographies – Louisiana, Texas, and the Ohio River Valley. Beyond Petrochemicals is also working to establish stricter rules for existing petrochemical plants to safeguard the health of American communities.

The campaign will identify opportunities for grassroots activation, strategic communications, capacity-building, research, and policy advocacy to drive US petrochemical production into permanent decline.
