The Role
The Senior Vice President, Strategic Communications and Content Strategy will develop, implement, and integrate WorkMoney’s communications, digital content strategy, and earned media initiatives. This senior leader will set the overarching vision for how WorkMoney communicates with its members, the media, and external stakeholders, ensuring consistency, impact, and alignment with the organization’s strategic goals. The SVP will also build and manage a high-performing team and serve as a senior advisor on brand strategy and strategic communications to the Chief Marketing Officer and the executive team. 

Primary Responsibilities
 
  • Strategic Leadership & Vision: Bring WorkMoney’s mission to life through powerful storytelling and campaigns across all channels that inspire people to believe that financial stability should be accessible for everyone and to join us in fighting for a more just and equitable economic landscape. Design, champion, and execute a fully integrated communications and content strategy that advances WorkMoney’s mission, drives member trust and engagement, and elevates the organization's public profile. 
  • Digital Content Strategy Oversight: Direct the development and execution of the digital content strategy across channels (website, blog, social media), ensuring content is compelling, relevant, on-brand, and optimized for SEO, user experience, and conversion funnels.
  • Integrated Campaigns: Lead integrated campaigns that leverage our earned and owned channels to support WorkMoney’s goals. Work closely with the engagement team and media team to ensure a cross-functional approach that leverages all of the tools in our toolbox and prioritizes outcomes based on our organizational needs and the crowded landscape.
  • Communications & Earned Media Ownership: Lead and drive the proactive and reactive communications functions, managing external communications partners, consultants, and internal stakeholders. Serve as a key organizational advisor on high-stakes public relations and earned media opportunities.
  • Brand Communications: Develop clear, consistent, and relevant brand communications guidance for our team across WorkMoney to define, articulate, and distinguish our brand, our tools, and programs for each of our priority audiences as informed by our research and insights. Monitor and support strict adherence to brand and message guidance across the organization.  
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high performing team responsible for content campaigns and communications. Establish clear goals and performance expectations to foster a culture of excellence and accountability. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching and mentorship.
  • Executive Advising: Serve as a senior strategic advisor to the executive team on brand positioning, high-level messaging, crisis communications, and the strategic use of social media and other public-facing platforms.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate with the Growth, Creative, and Product teams to ensure the communications and content strategy seamlessly integrates with marketing campaigns, product launches, and organizational priorities.
  • Performance and Reporting: Establish and monitor comprehensive performance metrics across all content and communications initiatives, translating data into actionable insights for continuous strategic improvement and executive reporting.
  • Organizational Systems: Design and refine the processes, structures, and workflows for the Communications and Content team to ensure effective, scalable, and sustainable execution.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the department budget for communications, content creation, agencies, and consultants.
  • Internal Communications: Advise on key internal communications to ensure organizational alignment on mission and strategy.

Essential Qualifications
WorkMoney's Senior Vice President, Strategic Communications and Content Strategy is an executive leader responsible for the long-range strategy, design, and performance of WorkMoney’s communications, digital content strategy, and earned media initiatives. The SVP will operate with broad organizational influence, navigating complexity to secure executive-level alignment and driving high-stakes, multi-stream initiatives. This role requires deep expertise in both strategic communications and digital content, an ability to translate market and sector insights into scalable solutions, and a proven track record of developing senior-level teams.

  • Exceptional Communications: You demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communications and presentation skills and communicate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders and audiences.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of professional experience, including experience in a senior communications, digital campaigns, or content strategy leadership role
  • Background in mission-driven, entrepreneurial, or multi-entity organizations
