ABOUT THIS ROLE

BerlinRosen, a leading political consulting and strategic communications firm, is seeking an experienced political professional to join our team as one of two Practice Leaders of our highly successful Campaign & Creative Services Division.  

Working collaboratively, the Practice Leaders will develop and powerfully execute creative and strategic media campaigns for our political and public affairs clients.  The Practice Leaders will grow the Campaign & Creative Services business and revenue by expanding our client base and offering our clients new services and products.  The Practice Leaders will lead an expanding team of creative and political professionals, develop our skills and capabilities and nurture professional growth among team members. 

The Practice Leaders will serve as members of BerlinRosen’s Senior Leadership Team.  

We are seeking a colleague who will help grow our professional networks, expand the services we offer and broaden our business reach.  The Campaign & Creative Services team is based at our New York headquarters.  Additionally, members of our team work and live in the Washington, D.C. area and other locations across the country.  We value geographic diversity. 

Job Responsibilities 

Lead client relationships and manage high-level client engagements 

  • Develop political and campaign strategies and messages, and execute paid media tactics for high-level client engagements
  • Manage superior execution of all clients’ campaign message development and paid media tactics by all Campaign & Creative Services team members  

Grow our business 

  • Serve as leader of the BerlinRosen Campaign & Creative Services team in meetings with prospective clients and professional partners
  • Serve as a face of the BerlinRosen Campaigns & Creative Services team with the Democratic and progressive communities and its institutions
  • Maintain and set annual revenue targets and additional business development goals
  • Grow professional network through active participation and cultivation of relationships across the industry
  • Support Vice Presidents and junior staff in their business development growth and success through active management and training
  • Oversee and approve preparation and use of all marketing materials
  • Serve as a public face for Campaign & Creative Services in the press, social media, and marketing opportunities
  • Follow and master latest business trends 

Build and manage the BerlinRosen Campaign & Creative Services team to help us reach our goals and develop new talent

  • Maintain a positive culture of teamwork, support, and determination 
  • Nurture and build BerlinRosen’s already-strong creative development processes to hone our product and productivity
  • Manage and grow a team of 20+ campaign professionals, graphic designers, video producers, editors, and copywriters
  • Manage and coordinate senior team leaders (Vice Presidents, Art Director, SVP--Copywriting, Video Producers, Operations)
  • Further develop the Campaign & Creative Services organizational structure and business processes to support our ability to achieve business growth
  • Represent the Campaigns & Creative Services team with our colleagues across the firm

Conduct smart business operations

  • Manage progress to goal for revenue targets and P&L throughout annual and two-year cycles
  • Determine hiring schedules, promotions, raises and oversee all personnel decisions
  • Develop relationships and negotiate advantageous terms with all vendors to grow profit margins
  • Maintain and improve vendor management across Campaign & Creative Services 
  • Set pricing for direct mail, video and digital production and buys

Experience and Essential Skills

  • 12+ years of political and paid media campaign work across multiple states or large media markets
  • Deep commitment to excellence and professionalism with a strong personal drive to succeed 
  • Expertise in developing campaign strategy and delivering campaign messages to different audiences using a range of communications tools and tactics
  • Ability to represent the team and business in front of clients and professional partners
  • Demonstrated record of providing high-level and trusted guidance and strategic advice to candidates and clients
  • Eagerness to lead a fulfilling work environment that develops talent and helps people grow
  • History of growth over career in staff leadership and management
  • Keen knowledge of how political communications are evolving, and the ways campaigns and organizations must adapt to changes in how voters receive information
  • Interest in and a strong understanding of how the Democratic party campaign and liberal infrastructure is organized in Washington, state capitals and major metropolitan areas
  • Strong relationships with candidates and elected officials, their staff and consultants, reporters, and other key leaders
