BGNY Finance Director

Position Overview

The Finance Director will lead the fundraising strategy for Battleground New York and Battleground New York Action. Battleground New York  is dedicated to helping Democrats win the U.S. House of Representatives, registering new voters, and increasing voter turnout by reaching them directly at their doors. Battleground New York Action is a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization that works to increase voter registration and voter turnout on a nonpartisan basis.

This is a leadership role for an experienced political or non-profit fundraiser eager to build a sustainable donor base for organizing infrastructure in New York state. The Finance Director will design and execute an ambitious finance plan, manage all aspects of donor engagement, and work with the team to pitch the coalition's work both in state and nationally. The ideal candidate has experience building out a donor base and is looking forward to the challenge of raising for independent expenditure programming that spans multiple districts for Battleground New York as well as for nonpartisan social welfare and issue advocacy work for Battleground New York Action.

About Battleground New York and Battleground New York Action

In 2026, New York will be a central battleground in the effort to win back the U.S. House of Representatives. Battleground New York is a coalition of New York’s leading organizations, unions, and movements representing hundreds of thousands of people from all walks of life, working together to flip the House and take back the majority. The coalition is dedicated to winning the U.S. House of Representatives, registering new voters, and increasing voter turnout by reaching them directly at their doors. In 2024, it hosted the largest field and organizing campaign in modern New York history leading to successfully flipping four congressional seats.

Battleground New York Action (BGNYA) is Battleground New York’s 501(c)(4) sister organization. BGNYA runs social welfare programming to increase education, advocacy, and civic engagement among New Yorkers who have historically been disconnected from the political process. Specifically, BGNYA runs nonpartisan voter registration and get-out-the-vote campaigns to increase civic engagement among working-class New Yorkers.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience raising funds for 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), PACs or multi-entity organizations in campaigns of over $3M+.
  • Drive an ambitious fundraising program to meet goals for Battleground NY through a mix of donor engagement, call time, grantseeking, and events.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and lead the team to hit fundraising targets.
  • Develop and manage a finance plan that meets the campaign’s budgetary needs.
  • Set and communicate fundraising projections.
  • Work with the BGNY campaign team and BGNYA staff to develop fundraising pitches and messaging.
  • Strong understanding of donor stewardship and cultivation.
  • Availability to work irregular hours and travel for donor events as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with relevant compliance and reporting processes for multi-entity organizations .
  • Fundraising experience in campaigns of over $5M+.
  • Ability to relate fundraising goals to current events and launch rapid response fundraising campaigns.

Location: Based in New York State, willingness to travel throughout the State

Salary: $10-12k per month range, commensurate with experience, full-time role
