Manager/Supervisor

Grossman Solutions, working with Battleground NY, is hiring a Field Supervisor to run a voter outreach and GOTV canvass in support of the Democratic candidate in the special election to replace Congressman George Santos. The Field Supervisor will manage a team of hourly canvassers working throughout NY Congressional District 3.

This position is ideal for someone with prior canvass or staff management experience in a fast-paced environment. 

The pay range for this position is $7,500 to $9,500, to be set based on qualifications, experience, and location, and benefits include a health insurance stipend. 

About Battleground NY

In 2024, New York will be a central battleground in the effort to win back the U.S. House of Representatives. Battleground New York, a new coalition of New York’s leading organizations, unions, and movements, representing hundreds of thousands of people from all walks of life, has come together to flip the House and take back the majority.

Battleground New York, led by the Working Families Party, Planned Parenthood Empire States Acts, 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, Communications Workers of the America District 1, Indivisible, and other organizations, will be the largest field and organizing campaign in modern New York history.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Work with Battleground NY team to hire, train, and manage a team of canvassers for door-to-door voter outreach and phone banking
  • Coordinate daily staffing needs and construct effective canvass schedules that meet daily and weekly goals
  • Work with data director to do strategic targeting and help plan daily tactics and turf
  • Conduct regular staff evaluations. Work with HR staff to resolve any personnel and performance issues
  • Enforce quality control measures to ensure the integrity of all data collected through canvass activities
  • Use VAN and other programs to ensure accurate and timely data entry
  • Ensure that the needs of the canvass program are being met; recommend and adjust program tactics as needed
  • Collect, analyze, and report qualitative learnings and data gathered by canvassers in the field about the effectiveness of their scripts and voter reactions to messaging
  • Complete daily and weekly reports on progress to goal for all metrics
  • Represent the campaign with professionalism and ethical conduct
  • Collaborate with volunteer team to work together when appropriate

Qualifications 

  • At least 4 cycles of experience working on issue-based or political campaigns and prior experience working with canvassers
  • Demonstrated ability to connect with diverse communities and move people to action
  • Proven ability to be flexible and work under pressure in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong leadership qualities and experience managing staff
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
  • Proficiency using VAN (Voter Activation Network)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Demonstrated success in metrics driven jobs
  • Must have car and valid driver’s license
  • Experience working in New York, Nassau County and  NY03 preferred

Location 

The Field Supervisor will be based in a field office in CD3 but will travel throughout the region to support canvassers as needed.
