Executive Assistant to the CEO – National Legal Advocacy Nonprofit (Confidential)
Position Overview
A national, growing organization committed to protecting and advancing democracy seeks an experienced and strategic Executive Assistant to support the CEO and executive office operations.
As the Executive Assistant, you report directly to and work in close partnership with a dynamic CEO, providing high-level administrative and management support.
You are a consummate professional who ensures smooth daily operations of the executive office and contributes to the overall effectiveness of the organization. You will manage the CEO’s complex schedule with a comprehensive understanding of the CEO’s commitments and priorities.

You thrive in fast-moving, multi-tasking environments, remaining calm and collected while always paying close attention to detail. You know how to successfully execute complex and strategic scheduling and high-level relationship management for a C-suite executive, using excellent judgment and discretion. You appreciate a collaborative environment and are always willing to go above and beyond, working closely with the rest of the team to manage information flow and briefings and smoothly complete a wide range of daily tasks and broader goals.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize the CEO’s calendar to reflect top priorities of the CEO and organization, including scheduling meetings, resolving scheduling conflicts, and expertly navigating time and priorities with other members of the leadership team
- Ensure the daily operations of the executive office and CEO’s calendar runs smoothly and efficiently
- Handle a high volume of email correspondence, reading, prioritizing, and routing messages as necessary, while drafting responses and documents on behalf of the CEO
- Collaborate with senior staff members on the CEO’s meetings and travel and ensure the CEO is equipped with all briefing materials and informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities in a timely, holistic manner
- Handle confidential information with discretion and maintain a high level of professionalism
- Organize and manage meeting logistics, including travel, transportation, food, and technology
- Prioritize conflicting needs and handle matters independently and expeditiously
- Serve as an ambassador for the CEO’s office, internally and externally, promoting an inclusive, collaborative and supportive environment
- Follow through on projects and requests to ensure successful completion, often with short deadlines and quick turnaround
- Handle special projects and initiatives as needed
Key Qualifications
- Extensive experience in an administrative or support role of C-suite individuals,
preferably in government, advocacy, philanthropy or legal setting
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and requests simultaneously
- Superb interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally and graciously with a variety of stakeholders, including staff, board members, external partners, and donors
- Excellent judgment with the ability to quickly ascertain when to seek the CEO’s guidance and when decisions can be made independently
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and quickly under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Location, Salary, and Benefits
This position is based in Washington, DC, and expected to be in the downtown Washington, DC, office at least several days a week.
The salary range for this position starts at $100,000 and is based on years of relevant experience, with an excellent benefits package.
