Democratic National Committee - Deputy National Organizing Director for States

Wilmington, DE
Full Time
Democratic National Committee
Experienced
The DNC is hiring a Deputy National Organizing Director for States. This person will design, implement, and oversee States Organizing Desks to elect Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Democrats up and down the ticket, working closely with Battleground organizing leadership and General Election Directors. This Director will build a culture of excellence across the regionals and states to hit ambitious goals and build a large organization of volunteers and volunteer leaders. At their core, the Deputy National Organizing Director deeply believes in supporting staff and volunteers in states to talk to voters online and in-person to build capacity. Ideally, this candidate has significant management experience, and is comfortable efficiently working across departments at BFP and the DNC, with partner campaigns, and with core stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and build strong systems, trackers, and cross functional communication for state organizing programs and national organizing leadership.
  • Draft national battleground organizing content, recommendations, and big programmatic pushes in collaboration with HQ departments.
  • Collaborate with General Election Directors, the National Organizing Director, and the National Training Director to develop recommendations, share and strategize around training and coaching content, and implement program support and interventions.
  • Build programs and systems with Operations and HR to support state hiring of hundreds of organizing positions.
  • Design customized support for states in the form of tailored materials, deep performance analysis, and data driven program reviews.
  • Manage states national organizing desks to support, coach, and coordinate across states and HQ teams.

You’ll be a good fit for this role if…

  • You have 7+ years of relevant experience, with 1+ cycle of managing managers and 8+ staff.
  • You’ve got strong organizational skills and can effectively and efficiently manage multiple projects at once in high-pressure environments– and communicate outwards your challenges, progress, and needs to stakeholders.
  • You’re strong on details, and able to track many complex projects soup to nuts.
  • Your interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, are clear and concise.
  • You’re a natural coach: you’re excited to empower staff to maximize their talents; willing to lean into conflict and coaching where needed to achieve and exceed goals.
  • You’re a born executor– driving projects and coordinating all their nitty, gritty details from beginning to end excites you.
  • No task is too small— you are as comfortable chasing approvals and making copy edits as you are having a 1:1 with a volunteer as you are writing a surrogate memo.

Due to FEC regulations, only U.S. citizens or U.S. green card holders are eligible to apply for this role.
